Selling meeting rooms to people without an account

Boardroom behind a glass door

Meeting rooms sit empty outside peak times, and there are plenty of people outside your building who want one. In Doory, an external party can book a meeting room online and pay straight away, without an account and without involving your front desk.

Why this usually doesn't happen

Not because there is no demand, but because the process takes too much work. An outsider calls, someone checks the calendar, sends an email with the price, creates an invoice, checks whether it has been paid and only then confirms the booking. For a two-hour room booking, that is a loss. So many operators say no to external hire, or only do it for people they know.

How the public checkout works

You open a public booking page for the meeting rooms you want to rent out, with the times at which that is allowed. An outsider chooses a room and a time slot, sees the price, accepts the applicable terms from your terms library and pays online. The booking then appears in the same calendar as all other bookings, and they receive a confirmation with a calendar invitation.

Because it is the same calendar, nothing can be double-booked. An external booking blocks the room for your members, and a member's booking makes the time slot unavailable to outsiders.

What you keep control of

Which rooms are public, on which days and at which times, and at what rate. You can charge a higher price than internally, or limit public sales to the hours when you know for sure your members won't need the room, for example after 16:00 and on Fridays.

Access stays under control. An external booking is tied to a time slot and to visitor registration, so reception knows who is coming and why. You are not opening your doors to anyone with a credit card.

What it brings in

Revenue from hours you currently give away, without extra work at the front desk. And a second effect that is often forgotten: outsiders who hire your meeting room see your building from the inside. That is the cheapest way to find tenants who don't yet know they want to be in your building.
