Getting in with your phone
Members always have their phone with them, but not always their key. The Doory app has an access tab where a member sees their access: which doors and buildings they have rights to and what the status of those rights is. The app is prepared for the iLOQ Mobile SDK, so that the phone itself opens the door.
What happens today when someone forgets their key
Someone is standing at the door, calls the front desk or texts a colleague. Someone comes downstairs, or a temporary key is issued that often does not get returned afterwards. In a building with flexible tenants that happens every week, and every time it costs two people time.
What the access tab shows
For each member: which buildings and doors they may use and whether their access is active. That seems small, but it takes a whole category of questions away from the front desk. Someone who cannot get in can first check for themselves whether their access is active. If something is wrong, the question to the building manager is immediately specific.
Access follows the records, in the app too. If a member is deactivated or a contract expires, access disappears from the app at the same moment as from the lock.
Why it says "prepared for"
Because mobile access consists of two parts: the rights and actually opening the door. Doory handles the rights, and the app shows them. Actually opening the door with the phone happens via the iLOQ Mobile SDK, and that also requires something of your hardware. Whether that is possible in your building depends on your locks and your iLOQ configuration. That is exactly the kind of promise you need an honest answer to before you tell tenants about it.
What else is in the app
The access tab sits alongside everything else: room bookings, requests, services, events, parcels, visitors and the gym, with push notifications. For a member that is one app instead of a portal, a booking tool and a key.
