A kiosk that takes pressure off the front desk

Unstaffed reception desk in an entrance with curved wooden walls

Not every building has a reception that is staffed all day, and even with a reception, the front desk is the bottleneck at peak times. The Doory reception kiosk is a self-service terminal: request access, announce an appointment, check in a visitor, or book an available room on the spot.

What lands at the front desk now

Everything. A courier, three guests arriving at the same moment, a member who has forgotten their key, and someone asking whether a room is still available. One person can't handle all of that at once, so a queue forms and your tenant's guest is the first to wait.

What someone can do at the kiosk

Announce an appointment. A guest enters who they are visiting and checks themselves in. The host gets a notification in the app straight away. If the visit was registered in advance, it takes one step.

Request access. For someone who belongs in the building but can't get in right now. The request goes to the right person, instead of someone having to come downstairs.

Check in a visitor. Also by a member, for example when they collect their guest downstairs.

Book an available room. For the situation that happens in every building: two people who need a room for half an hour, now. The kiosk shows what is available and books it immediately, in the same calendar as all other bookings.

Why it isn't a separate system

Because the kiosk looks at the same data as everything else. A room that is available on the kiosk really is available. A guest who checks in appears in visitor registration and their host is notified. The kiosk uses the branding of that building, with its own colours and brand name.

What you need

A tablet or a screen in the lobby, and a decision about what the kiosk is allowed to do. In a building with strict access requirements you may not want self-service for access requests, while in a coworking building you do.
