Visitors who are known before they walk in

Light reception desk with a screen in a wooden entrance

A guest who arrives at a reception that isn't expecting them costs two people time and makes a poor first impression. In Doory a member registers their guests in advance, reception sees the day view, and the host is notified on arrival.

How it usually goes

A guest comes in and gives a name. Reception searches a calendar that isn't theirs, calls upstairs, gets no answer, and the guest waits. In a building with forty tenants that happens a few times a day. And if there is an unexpected drill or emergency, nobody knows how many people are in the building.

What registering gives you

The member fills in name, company and time, and the visit is linked to them as host. The guest receives a message with the practical information: address, floor, where to report. With a meeting room booking, that goes along in the calendar invitation, so they have it with them.

In the morning, reception opens the day view: who is coming, to see whom, and at what time. When the guest arrives, reception checks them in with a single action and the host immediately gets a notification in the app. No phone call, no searching.

Why the host notification makes the difference

Because that's where the waiting happens. The guest is downstairs and the host doesn't know. A push notification at the moment of check-in takes reception out of the role of switchboard.

What you get as well

An overview of who is in your building today. That is practical in an emergency and useful on busy days, because you can see that forty guests are arriving at 10am before the lobby fills up.

If there is a reception kiosk in your lobby, a guest can also check in there themselves, even when nobody is behind the desk.

What you agree with tenants

That guests are registered in advance. That's a house rule, not a setting. If you don't, reception keeps making the same phone calls. Include it in the explanation at move-in and in your house rules, and after a few weeks it works by itself.
